About
Welcome to Tuxcoder.com. I use this site to store some tips and technical information related to programming, Linux, and software in general. My only hope, is that others find this information useful, and can contribute to the discussion by posting comments and sharing it with others.
I do find it hard to allocate enough time to spend on this site, and as such, the post volume is fairly low. I strive to add more content in a timely manor, but forgive me if it there are some large gaps in posts.
Bio
I am a professional software developer in my early 30s, with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. I've had the pleasure to work at a Fortune 100 company writing software for embedded systems. At my current position, I routinely make use of Java and Python technologies for testing, integration, and customization of commercial and government networking infrastructure devices.
I've spent a lot of time using Linux, mostly Ubuntu for the last 5 years, and other distros before then. I do most of my side projects in Python, since it usually is the fastest and most efficient way to work. I also enjoy contributing to StackOverflow, especially when topics come up that pique my interest.
Site Details
You may have noticed this is not a normal WordPress or Blogger site. The backend is driven by rstblog, a Python script by Armin Ronacher, a member of the Python Pocoo Team. The site design and layout was done by myself.
The simplicity of this software is why I find it so appealing. All pages are template driven using Jinja2 and pre-compiled before they can be uploaded to the web server. All articles and post are written in ReStructuredText using Vim. This allows me to maintain a full copy of this site in a git repo.
